Purchasing bonus points in Nevada for future hunts is a fairly straightforward process, but like most states, it can be a little confusing if you’ve never done it before. Luckily, Nevada is one of the easiest states to apply in, so purchasing your bonus points will be a breeze. Below is a complete step-by-step walkthrough of how to easily purchase your bonus points in Nevada.
In Nevada, you have two options when it comes to the timeframe of purchasing your bonus points.
There is not a separate points-only purchase period in Nevada per se; rather, there are two opportunities to purchase points during the main draw and second draw.
In Nevada, a bonus point is an extra draw number assigned to an application. Bonus points increase draw odds by giving the applicant an extra chance to pull a low enough number to be assigned a tag. Bonus points can be accumulated for all species and classes available in the big game draw. Each hunt category has its own set of bonus points, but not every hunt category can accumulate points. For example, elk has three different categories of bonus points in Nevada: Antlered Elk, Antlerless Elk, and Spike Elk. Elk Depredation hunts do not accumulate points. Management hunts also do not accumulate points.
Again, if you're not applying in hopes of drawing a tag, you need to purchase your bonus points for each species you’re interested in building points for by May 8, 2024, at 11:00 p.m. MT during the main draw. The other time frame you can purchase points is during the Second Draw (June 3 to June 10, 2024, by 11 p.m. PT). Only applicants who did not apply and earn a point or draw a tag in the main draw will be able to purchase a bonus point in the second draw.
Applicants are limited to earning one bonus point per species per license year.
Bonus points are lost if an applicant misses two consecutive years of applying for the hunt category. Bonus points cannot be purchased by an applicant in a waiting period.
Nevada makes it really easy to purchase bonus points. There are no hunt codes you need to remember, and there is no chance you can mess it up and accidentally apply for something.
To apply in the state of Nevada, a customer must have a valid hunter education certificate attached to their account. You can submit this information by clicking on the "Help" icon on Nevada's licensing website, then changing the Contact Reason to "Hunter Safety Education Certificates," and uploading a photocopy of your hunter education certificate.

The steps required to purchase Nevada bonus points are very straightforward. You can easily follow along on how to purchase bonus points by checking out the text and screenshots of the process below.
*Applicants who want to build bonus points will need to purchase a hunting license or hunt/fish combo license.
Navigate to the Nevada Department of Wildlife's licensing page. Log in or create an account here.
If you’ve applied before or once you’ve created an account, click the "Log In" button in the upper right portion of the screen. Then, you'll need to enter your email and account password. If you can’t remember your Nevada account information, you can go through the forgot password link.
Enter that information in and then click "Login."
After logging in, navigate to the "Buy Licenses" screen and click the box next to your residency. Again, all applicants must purchase a hunting license even when only purchasing a bonus point.
Now select "Annual Hunt-Fish Combo," which is $155 for nonresidents and $75 for residents, and add it to your cart.
A pop-up on the right will show you the cost of the license, the processing fee, and whether you want to elect to "Auto-Renew" the hunting license each year. Click "continue shopping." You'll also notice that one item has been added to your shopping cart.
You are now at the stage where you'll need to select all the species that you want to purchase Nevada bonus points for.
Click on "Apply For Tags" at the top. This section lists all the species for which you can currently purchase bonus points.
For this example, we will be purchasing points for Nevada antelope horns longer than ears. Clicking on any of the boxes will open a new screen. So, for this example, we will click on "Horns Longer Than Ears" under antelope.
You'll now see a screen showing the available draws. If you just want to purchase a bonus point for this species, at the bottom, you'll need to select the box "Apply for POINTS ONLY." Then click continue.
A new screen appears that will allow you to review the draw application for your points-only purchase for that species. If you'd like to add more species, click "Continue Shopping," or if you've added all your species, click on "Checkout."
On the checkout page, you'll have several questions at the top. The first asks if you want to donate and support the Resource Enhancement Fund, and the second one asks if you want to donate and support the Nevada Youth License Fund.
Scroll down on this page as you'll need to confirm how you want to receive your licenses. Your options are "Print-Display on Mobile" or "Ship to Me (Additional Fees)". After making that selection, click on "Continue."
Now you'll be on the final checkout page where you can enter your credit card information. Once that is complete, click "I agree to the terms and conditions" and click "Place Order."
And that’s it! You'll receive a confirmation of your Nevada bonus points order, and shortly after, you'll receive an email confirmation.
One last step I like to take is to jump into GOHUNT’s Point Tracker Tool and update my bonus point totals for Nevada if I just purchased points. This way, I know everything is in sync between the state's website and my Insider account. Point Tracker will then seamlessly transfer your point totals into Filtering and Draw Odds when you're researching for future hunts.
During the all-species main draw application period (March 25 to May 8, 2024, by 11 p.m. PT)
Or during the Second Draw (June 3 to June 10, 2024, by 11 p.m. PT)
Applicants will need to buy an annual hunting license if they want to build bonus points in Nevada. You can apply without buying the hunting license; however, you will not receive a bonus point(s) if you are unsuccessful in the draw.
An active hunting or combination license is required in order to obtain a bonus point. Only one bonus point per species and class can be obtained in the year the license is active. You will be prompted to purchase a license when submitting an application or to purchase only if successful in drawing a tag. Again, choosing to purchase only if successful will not earn you a bonus point.
