Rocky Mountain Goat Tag | $120 | $1200 |
Transplanted from Washington into the Ruby Mountains in the mid-1960s and later into the East Humboldt range in 1981, goats were steadily increasing in number for years. By 2003, the population reached an estimated 100 animals in the East Humboldt Range and 250 in the Ruby Mountains. Goat numbers have declined, and tag numbers have been reduced. Very limited tags are available for nonresidents. Hunters regularly harvest mature goats with horns from 8-9" long.
