Brad, first, commit here and now to practice shooting 200rds a year of hunting ammo in your hunting gun (if you don't already). A paper plate out to 300yds with a scope and a rest should be NO challenge at all. Next, read this, https://www.chuckhawks.com/elk_cartridges.htm, and decide if you don't already have a rifle that'll work just fine, maybe with a better scope or different ammo. Ah, the first "solution in search of a problem" for 2021 from the hunting industry. Heaven forbid anyone put a fast-twist barrel (1:9-1:8) on their .270 Win for $500 and let all this new 'awesomeness' go collect dust next to all the .325 WSMs. Are there really people talented enough to make 700yd shots in the field who can't handle a .300WM's kick but believe +13% energy to the vitals is a must? My forehead now has a flat spot after reading this.
