On The Ground
Hunters can find this unit in the Green River region in the Southwest corner of Wyoming with the west boundary being the Utah border. This area has good numbers of antelope and has the opportunity for hunters to find a Boone and Crockett class buck. With Evanston to the south, and Kemmerer on the north this unit is a good place for hunters who do not want to camp out.
This is considered to be an average area for antelope hunting. In the past, this unit has produced some good bucks, but it is not the norm. This unit has better quality and numbers of antelope than the units that directly surround it. A lot of antelope here. Great access with a lot of oil field and mine roads.
Terrain
The terrain is relatively flat here with some rolling hills and small ravines scattered throughout. The Bear River Divide has higher elevations and can be found with larger hills. These areas have canyons and rock outcroppings with different types of terrain scattered throughout.
Roughly 842 square miles
56.4% public land
Elevations from 6,500-7,900 feet
Vegetation
Most of the area has a lot of typical Wyoming vegetation. Grass and sage take up most of the land here.
Access
Hunters can find a variety of access roads and areas to travel throughout the unit. Roads vary from well-maintained gravel roads, to two track roads. A lot of oil fields and mine roads can be found all over the area, and can help hunters travel through easier. An ATV or side-by-side vehicle is recommended here, but not needed. Highways 89, 189 and 30 surround the perimeter of the unit giving quick access to interior roads in the unit.
Camping and Lodging
Hunters can find food and hotels in Evanston and Kemmerer on the northeast corner of the unit. If hunters choose to camp, finding places out of the sun and dust in the unit can be difficult.
