Along with mule deer and whitetail, hunters can also find good opportunities to hunt Columbian Blacktail Deer in Washington. Deer can be found in good numbers and bucks grow to a mature age and size. Over-the-counter tags are available, however, the best dates generally reserved for the draw tags. The primary hunting areas for blacktail deer are typically very thick with vegetation and downfall, which can make the hunting very difficult. Hunters often use ambush techniques over well-used trails, but glassing and still hunting can be effective in timber clear cuts. Patience will be the key to punching a tag here but the payoff can be great!
