This small unit is found in northern Utah and lies just north of Provo. This area is very mountainous and physical conditioning can definitely play a role in success. Great glassing opportunities will exist here and will largely play into locating elk.

Good numbers of elk are found here and hunters willing to work for it can be in for a fun hunt.

The southwestern corner of the unit is largely private and mostly urban areas. This corner of the unit is very flat with little to no elevation change. From this point and northward the elevation climbs tremendously with steep ridgelines rising sharply off the valley floor. Large prominent ridgelines will lead into highlevation alpine bowls and rocky peaks. Traversing most of the high country can be very tough and hunters can expect steep hikes throughout the unit.

The low lying areas on the southwest corner of the unit are primarily comprised of developed areas with very little native vegetation. Most of the elevated areas will largely be west facing slopes and are mostly open. Oak brush, mahogany, and sage grow throughout the range with sporadic pockets of pine, fir, and spruce can be found on a few north facing ridgelines. The highest elevation areas are largely made up up large cliff bands and high alpine meadows of grass. Glassing opportunities are excellent here.

This area is largely public but most of the public areas are largely roadless, very steep, and will require some physical effort to hunt. Even climbs into the mid elevation areas will typically consists of climbing 1,500’ or more.

There are several options for modern lodging found within a unit and immediately surrounding the area. Groceries and sporting goods can be found in good selection throughout the unit with the best selections being found in Provo and Salt Lake City.
