This unit is located in northern Utah just south of Heber City. This area is largely private but a large wildlife management area can be found on the north end of the hunting area that generally holds a large population of wintering elk. Physical exertion can be high at times but overall hunters will find this to be a fairly enjoyable hunt.
Good elk numbers can found here but a lack of public land will generally concentrate hunting competition.
The town of Wallsburg is nestled into a large valley in the central portion of the unit. From here large ridgelines can be found surrounding the valley with many finger ridges present. Hunters will find a lot of huntable terrain here with plenty of hiding spots for pressured elk. Good road systems can be found in most areas making for fairly simple access options.
The lower elevation areas along the valley bottom will be largely comprised of huge sage flats with oak brush and periodic pinyon juniper. As elevation climbs tree cover will slowly increase and can become quite heavy near ridge tops and deep north facing canyons. The higher areas will still be fairly open though oak brush will grow fairly thick in areas and be hard to glass into and to move through.
The few public parcels found in this unit are fairly easy to access thanks to a good road system and a moderate amount of elevation gain/loss. The road leading into the wildlife management areas on the north end of the unit will be gated after December 1 and hunters will need to hike into the area.
There are not any options for modern lodging found within the unit but a short drive to Heber City will give hunters multiple choices. Sporting goods and groceries will also need to be purchased in Heber City.
