This unit is found in southwest Utah and stretches from the small town of New Harmony to Interstate 15. Private lands dominate the landscape leaving virtually nothing for the public land opportunist. Deer can be found in great numbers here and those who secure private hunting permission should find little trouble in filling a tag.
This area is home to a healthy population of deer but private access will be the biggest hurdle for hunters.
This small subunit follows the valley floor and has very little to show for terrain other than developed lands.
In areas that are not developed hunters will encounter dense stands of pinyon juniper, sage, natural grassess, and rock. As deer move into large stands of pinyon juniper they can easily disappear for long periods of time. Patience will be a must when hunting this areas as it can be very easy to spook deer when pushing things.
Because this area is so dominated in private the options for public land hunters are extremely limited. Private land access will provide the best opportunities at filling a tag.
There are several options for lodging found in Cedar City and primitive camping is permitted on public lands for up to 14 days. Sporting goods and groceries can all be found in Cedar City with a good selection.
