On The Ground
Located in the central part of the state and to the southwest of Lewistown. The district is comprised of a mix of private, BLM, state lands and a small portion of the Lewis and Clark National Forest. The forest portion is covered in old logging roads through thick timber, offering good access for the willing hiker.
Just a standard Montana general district, this area continues to produce average mule deer, whitetail and bull elk. Elk and whitetail deer are abundant as well, but also lack in trophy size.
Terrain
This district begins in the grassy plains and farm fields along Highway 191 on the east and spans westward through the plains and a portion of the Little Belt Mountains. Over half of the district is comprised of grassy plains and agriculture fields broken up with willow and cottonwood creek bottoms. The remainder of the district in the Little Belt Mountains is covered with steep timbered mountains.

Vegetation
High up in the Little Belts, the country consists of thick Douglas fir and ponderosa pine forests, with intermittent grassy meadows on south facing slopes. The lowlands are comprised of long grass prairie, agriculture fields and cottonwood and willow creek bottoms.

Public access in this district is good on the National Forest with several trails and roads. Access to the many parcels of state land is somewhat limited by private land.
