On The Ground
Mule deer and javelina hunters must use archery equiptment to hunt in this urban hunting zone, which surrounds greater Tucson. Hunting is prohibited in developed areas near homes and businesses. Quail and dove hunters may use shotguns.
This unit has desert mule deer and javelina. Some bucks are accustomed to seeing humans and are almost tame. The January bowhunting season falls during the rut.
Terrain
Mostly urban landscape, with low desert terrain and foothills. Washes and small mountains hold deer.

Vegetation
Low Sonoran desert with creosote, mesquite, palo verde and several kinds of cactus, including ocotillo, cholla, saguaro and barrel along with other desert plants such as yucca.
Access
Access is difficult and limited in the incorporated area around Tucson. Saguaro National Park is closed to hunting. No firearms may be discharged within a quarter mile of an occupied structure. Municipal parks and golf courses are closed to hunting.
Camping and Lodging
Few places where hunters may camp and no campgrounds exist. Most hunters live in the area, while visitors typically stay in RV parks and motels in and near Tucson.
