On The Ground
This unit is located in west-central Wyoming and encompasses a large portion of the Wind River Reservation. Public hunting opportunities are extremely limited here and most hunters will really struggle without private access.
Only non-indian-owned private land or land within the Bureau of Reclamation's Riverton and Boysen Unit boundaries, or Boysen State Park are open for hunting. This can be a hard unit to hunt without permission to access private land.
Terrain
This unit has moderate with a little rugged terrain, with elk typically found all throughout the area.This unit goes from Wind River, north to the Absaroka Mountain Range and Owl Creek Mountains, then southwest into the Wind River mountains. Terrain is more gently contoured throughout the unit, but becomes steep and rugged in the mountains.

Vegetation
Elk are primarily located along the hay fields and cottonwoods along the Wind River.
Access
Public access in this unit is difficult and sometimes rare to get. If hunters can gain access to one of the private ranches, be sure to have a GPS. This unit is bordered by the Wind River Indian Reservation, but excludes land in the Hot Springs County.
Camping and Lodging
Riverton or Dubois are the closest towns and have several lodging options. Groceries, gas stations and other stores can also be found here. Camping is allowed on all public ground for up to 16 days in one location. Hunters can also camp in remote locations.
