Researching your hunts has never been easier.
GOHUNT's easy-to-use filtering tools put you in total control. Find spots by choosing the state, species, and season you're interested in, then narrow down exactly what you're looking for in just a few clicks. Whether you're looking for trophy units or just an opportunity to get out and hunt, you'll find exactly what you’re looking for. It’s easily one of the most exciting benefits of being a GOHUNT member.
There’s no better way to explain how Filtering works than to show you. To do that, we’ll walk through two different scenarios:
Example 1: Over-the-counter elk opportunity in Idaho.
Example 2: Deciding on a trophy deer hunt in Wyoming.
Example 1: Over-the-counter elk opportunity in Idaho
Here are the simple steps we follow to find the right hunt:
Navigate to Tools > Filtering > Idaho > Elk. 98 units
Under Season, select “Early Rifle (Over the Counter)”. 29 results
Filter Trophy Potential to 310 inches or better. 8 results
Sort by Male-to-Female Ratio. 2 results are tied for the highest ratio (44:100)
Compare percentage of 6-point bulls harvested. 1 result wins (33% vs 22%)
Example 2: Deciding on a trophy deer hunt in Wyoming
Let’s step into the boots of a Wyoming nonresident applying with three points.
Here are the simple steps we follow to find the right hunt:
Navigate to Tools > Filtering -> Wyoming-> Mule Deer. 133 areas
Filter Trophy Potential to 180 inches or greater. 24 areas
Enter Draw Odds info: Nonresident regular, 3 points, 100% chance. 15 areas
Filter by Harvest Success of 50% or better. 1 season in a single area
At this point in either scenario, we can start getting to know the area better by diving into our curated unit profiles. One cool note about the Wyoming deer hunt: the unit profile gives us even more draw odds detail showing that we could party app with a buddy as long as he has 1 preference point!
This detailed information is enough to make an informed decision about whether or not this is the right hunt for your preferences. Then it’s off to maps for a more detailed look before deciding to apply.

Can someone tell me how "trophy potential" is calculated? Likewise, "general size"? I have never had to report the exact size of my harvest. For example, for an elk, I simply indicate if it was a 6 point or not. Thanks!

Hey Dustin, I believe I may have responded to an email to you a few days ago. The trophy potentials are derived from local knowledge throughout the west and from a strong team of hunters within our company. These are merely guidelines and are not data-driven... to an extent. Please let me know if you have any additional questions, we are always looking for feedback. Thank you!
