Chris Porter joins Lorenzo, Brady, and Trail to recap a recent successful 3rd season OTC Colorado elk hunt. Lorenzo and Chris were joined by good friends and coworkers for a traditional-style late-season elk camp. Listen in as they talk about the challenges they faced and the lessons they learned. This is an entertaining listen, where they recount delayed travel plans, broken down equipment, late-night cold weather pack-outs, and the sweet taste of success.

I wish Porter had enough time between concerts to join the pod more often, the dynamic is so fun with him in the mix. I have to thank the Big Hunt Guys from saving me from a potential mountain lion attack recently. I had just tagged a nice 4x4 in the timber (gotta throw this in for Brady, 6.5x284 shooting 140gr ELDMs, gotta go to a smaller cartridge, too much damage) and started to get to work dressing the deer. As I'm beginning, I hear some dogs getting closer and closer. I thought it was odd that people would let their dogs out during rifle deer season, but got back to work. Within a few minutes, I see the dogs running through the trees. Hounds on a lion track! As I was tracking the deer in the snow, I saw what I thought were lion prints, but didn't pay too much attention as I was more interested in the buck I'd seen go into the timber with his does. Needless to say, I was on high alert while dressing and packing the deer. I played a Big Hunt Guys episode at max volume to keep the sound of human voices in the woods, and wondered how close I was to the lion as we hunted the same group of deer. I'm not sure why hounds were running during 4th rifle in CO, but I'll chalk it up to unbridled enthusiasm over the defeat of Prop 127 and let it go.

Sounds like a typical Colorado $hit show.
