This small unit is found in central Utah and lies outside of the towns of Koosharem and Greenwich. The hunting area is made up of both public and private land giving hunters a few options for access. The maini hunting area is fairly small which can lead to overcrowding at times.
Decent numbers of elk can be found here but a small hunting area can make avoiding competition tough.
The eastern side of the unit is almost entirely flat farmland and developed land. This area is primarily private with several agriculture fields to attract elk, particularly in the late season. Traveling westward will reveal ridgelines that climb sharply off the valley bottom and lead into large drainages full of finger ridges and a lot of terrain relief. Vegetation is thick in some areas but still very glassable and hunters will find plenty of vantage points throughout the unit.
This unit is heavily covered in huge expanses of sage, natural grasses, and juniper. In the higher elevations oak brush will grow in high density in creek bottoms and a few select areas to the north will see a few patches of aspen and pine. Glassing opportunities will be plenty here and elk can be spotted from a distance with relative ease.
In the public lands on the western side of the unit there is a great road and trail system, providing plenty of access options throughout the unit. At times hunters will need to cover some country to close the distance on animals but even in the steepest areas, this will be a doable task. Most of the valley bottom to the east is comprised of private lands and hunters will need to first secure permission before hunting these areas.
There are no lodging options found within the unit with the closest choices being found about 30 minutes from the unit in Richfield. Grocery and sporting goods need will also need to be met prior to the hunt.
