As much as I love hunting solo… sharing the experience with friends and family is everything to me!
Each year I take my family on a mule deer hunt and that hunt means the world to me. It’s one of those hunts that is sort of laid back, full of laughs, and builds a ton of memories. To me it also takes things full circle. My dad introduced me and my brothers to hunting at a very young age. He taught us so many life lessons through hunting and now it’s great to give back to my family by taking them out each year.
Hunting with friends and family means collaboration on hunting information. One of the biggest issues that we were faced with back in the day was trying to share all the waypoints I have built up over the years of our hunting spots.
One prime example that comes to mind was the other year when my brother and his friend were hunting in a different area than my dad and I. We tagged out early and had to head home and my brother and his friend then wanted to move over to some of the spots that I was hunting. The pain point was discovered when I was trying to walk him through my hunting area on the phone and try to describe to him how we hunted it.
Then another issue was trying to share those waypoints I had created on the hunt with him. Doing things one waypoint at a time was a huge waste of time and only made things more confusing. That pain is now over...
Now on GOHUNT’s mobile app you can share an entire Hunt folder of waypoints, tracks and lines! This means that if I want to share something with friends or family, I can simply select the Collection and share it. They will not only get my waypoints, but they will also get my exact waypoint styling (color and icons) plus they will get all the notes that are associated with my Collection and they can see the notes and photos associated with my individual waypoints.
I’m very detail-oriented when it comes to waypoints and now once I share a Collection with my family, they will know exactly what all those waypoints mean and how to hunt that area.
So the next time you’re going hunting with friends, remember to utilize this great feature. I always say the more prepared you are, the more successful you will be.
