This unit is found in central Utah and lies to the northwest of the town of Huntington. Great public access can be found here and hunters willing to put in the leg work could be in for a great hunt.
Hunters will find great access options here with plenty of public land to hunt. Successfully punching a tag will require some work but an attainable goal.
This area is very mountainous with very steep ridge lines and plenty of rock cliffs. The lower elevations to the east are sparsely vegetated with a lot of terrain variation in the form of coulees and finger ridges. A small section of The higher elevation areas will see a larger exaggeration in the terrain with steep and taller ridge lines and deeper draws. Many of the ridgelines top out in small cliff bands periodically. Traversing most of this country can be difficult though a good road system is found here and can make reaching some spots easier.
The eastern side of the unit will see the typical high desert dispersion of sage, native grasses, and sporadic pinyon juniper. As the elevation climbs the tree cover will increase dramatically as the open hillsides will transform into dense stands of oak brush, pine, and fir. Throughout the heavy tree cover will be large sage flats that are great for glassing.
Hunters will find great public access here thanks to miles of public land. There is a large ranch located in the north-central portion of the unit that closes down a large portion of the hunting area. Land ownership maps can be great for skirting this area. A good road system will position hunters in good positions throughout the unit but there are still roadless areas for hunters wanting to escape pressure.
There are no modern lodging options found within the unit but several options can be found in the nearby town of Price. Groceries and some sporting goods can also be found in Price but any special needs will need to be met prior to leaving for the hunt.
Roughly 214 square miles
70% public land
Elevations range from 5,700- 9,700 feet
Main roads of access will include Highway 10, Highway 31, Twin Peaks Rd, and Mohrland Rd
ATV’s can make traveling around the unit much easier and faster
There are some modern lodging options found in Price which is located just north of the unit.
Groceries and some sporting goods can be found in Price but specialty gear needs will need to be met prior to leaving for the hunt.
