This unit is found in northeast Utah and is located to the southwest of the town of Vernal. This area is largely private but a few large tracts of public are available to hunt. Hunters will also encounter large tracts of tribal lands. Along with good access options hunters will also find good populations of deer here.
With a great distribution of public lands and healthy deer populations hunters will be in for a great hunt here.
The areas around vernal are primarily flat agricultural lands with rolling foothills for the remainder of the unit. The northern half of the unit sees far more terrain variations with many draws and ridges crossing the landscape. Deer and other wildlife will find more security in these areas and they can be excellent for spot and stalk hunting.
This area is primarily open high desert country comprised of sage, native grasses, and periodic patches of pinyon-juniper. Glassing opportunities will be aplenty here and deer will not be hard to spot when present in the area.
A good road system can lead hunters into any of the larger sections of public land. A large portion of the deer habitat on the unit will be found on private lands which will not be huntable without permission for access.
There are several options for lodging located in Vernal which is just northeast of the unit. A good selection of sporting goods and groceries can also be found in Vernal.
