Moose in this area can be found in Warm Slough west of Sugar City and timbered river bottoms near the Teton River, Henry’s Fork of the Snake River and South Fork Teton River.
This has been a good spot for moose hunters over the past few years. Most moose live in private land, but there is public access at the Warm Slough Access Area.
There is a lot of treeless desert shrub here, and the rest is mainly made of up farm fields. Most of the land is flat, varying only a few hundred feet across the whole unit. A lot of the land here looks the same all throughout, and can be found in Fremont or Madison Counties.
Most of the unit is covered in wild grass, sagebrush and other low shrubs. The marshy sloughs where moose are found are choked with willows, riparian brush, cattails, bulrushes and cottonwoods. Dense stands of aspens and birches grow along the Teton River.
Most of the public land here is accessible on the roads, but most moose are on private land. Hunters need permission to hunt most properties, but some land is accessible through state agreements. Motor vehicles, are only allowed on designated routes at the Warm Slough Access Area. Use a GPS to stay on land where you are allowed to hunt.
Warm Slough has a free campground. Restrooms and fire rings are provided. Some sites can accommodate small RVs. Motels and RV parks can be found in Rexburg and St. Anthony.
