Didn't draw a tag in Idaho's First Controlled Hunt drawing? You have another chance!

For Idaho's 2024 Second Controlled Hunt drawing, there are 2,914 unclaimed controlled hunt tags for deer, elk, antelope, and fall bear available.

Applications are now being accepted for Idaho's 2024 Second Controlled Hunt drawing. The application period is August 5 to 15. You can apply for tags online here.

2024 Second Controlled hunt tag counts by species:

To apply for a controlled hunt in this drawing, you will need a valid 2024 Idaho hunting license. You can apply at any Fish and Game office, license vendor, on the Fish and Game mobile app, or with a credit card online here.

You can only apply for one species on your application, so you can't apply for elk as choice one and deer as choice two.

Any hunter who drew a controlled big game hunt tag in Idaho had until August 1 to buy it, and those that aren't purchased will be available in this second drawing. Also, any tags that were not applied for in the first drawing are now available in the Second Controlled Hunt drawing.

If you already have a general season tag and you draw a controlled hunt for the same species, you'll have the option to keep the general season tag, or turn it back and accept the controlled hunt. Controlled hunt tags cannot be used as second tags.

Draw results will be available on August 26.

On August 26 at 10 a.m. MT, any remaining tags will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

How to apply for Idaho's Second Controlled Hunt drawing

Applying for Idaho's Second Controlled Hunt drawing is very simple. First, you'll need to log in to Idaho Fish and Game's licensing website.

Once you're logged in, click on the "Controlled Hunt / Big Game Applications" section at the top of the screen.

Next, you'll need to enter your hunt code number (this is not the unit number but rather the hunt code which is typically a four-digit code). Once you've entered in the hunt code, click "Next."

This next screen is where you can enter any party applicants. If entering a party application, be sure to drop in their license number or Sportsman ID. If you're not entering any party applicants, select the first number for "1" applicant and click next.

Step three will allow you to review your application. If everything looks good, click "Very And Checkout."

Now, you can review your application and see the fees associated with applying. The cost to apply for a controlled hunt is $18.00 plus some other fees for a total of $22.66. Click on "Checkout Now" to be taken to the last screen where you'll enter in your credit card information.
