On The Ground
Area 45 is located along the Colorado border and is adjacent to the town of Cheyenne. Growing populations of moose can be found here along with great glassing opportunities. This unit is adjacent to Area 38 which is well known for producing good numbers of large bulls year after year.
This new unit has a growing moose population with good opportunities to find mature bulls.
Terrain
Area 45 consists of sagebrush flats, rolling hills with aspen patches, and conifer forests in the southern portion of the unit. While the terrain appears very flat and open hunters will be surprised to find many tight draws and drainages that can provide great cover for game.

Vegetation
The majority of the area is covered in pinyon, confiers, prairie grass, and sage. A few ranches and creek bottoms will have willows and cottonwood trees.
Access
A large majority of Area 45 consists of private lands and this will be the biggest access struggle for hunters. Covering ground in the unit overall will be fairly straightforward and not too physical. Roads access much of the unit and will provide great options for glassing into the scattered public parcels.
Camping and Lodging
Hunters can camp on the few limited public parcels but modern lodging options can be found in the nearby towns of Laramie and Cheyenne.
