On The Ground
This area is located in southwestern Wyoming, south of Rock Springs. Herd health is great and the quality of animals and chances to harvest a bull are very high. The terrain allows hunters to glass a lot of area from high vantage points. This area produces many Boone and Crockett and Pope and Young bulls every year.
Great numbers of elk are present in this unit and hunters lucky enough to draw a tag will be in for a fun hunt.
Terrain
This unit is made up of long, deep canyons and sagebrush flats. A few mountain ranges provide hunters with vantage points for glassing and locating elk herds. The Aspen Mountain is the highest peak found within this area. Covering ground and glassing for elk herds will the quickest route to intially locating animals. In general, most of this area is fairly straightforward to traverse but the steep hills can be a challeneg at times.

Vegetation
The majority of the area is covered by sagebrush, bitterbrush, juniper, pinyon and prairie grass. Higher mountains have aspen and a few conifers. Willows and cottonwood trees can be found on ranches and creek bottoms.
Access
The majority of this area is BLM land and ranch lands with good public access. The Ashley National Forest has access points along the western side of the unit along the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Most roads are marked with BLM signs. Tire chains or ATV's may be necessary during periods of inclement weather.
Camping and Lodging
Hunters can camp remotely on BLM land with no permit required. Established Forest Service campsites next to the Flaming Gorge Reservoir are located at most boat docks. Lodging at multiple motels can be found just north in Rock Springs and Green River.
