On The Ground
This unit can be found northeast of Casper near some oil and gas production wells. There are not a lot of whitetails here, but mule deer populations are good. Public land access can be hard in this area. For nonresidents, this area is part of Region C and tags drawn for this area are also valid in: 17, 18, 19, 23, 26, 29.
Other areas have more deer, so it can take hunters in this area longer to find a good buck. Oil field service road traffic can be a distraction for people hunting here.
Terrain
The terrain here has long draws, rough creek bottoms, high prairie and hills. This can be a harder and more physical area to hunt and hike in.
Roughly 192 square miles
52.4% public land
Elevations from 4760-5,523 feet
Vegetation
Prairies here consist of sagebrush and grass, with some stands of willow and cottonwood found near creek bottoms or around stock tanks. North facing slopes can sometimes have junipers, as well.
Access
It can be hard for hunters to get access to public land here, and county and secondary roads can block access in the rain and snow. Hunter should try to be in good shape, because terrain here can be rough.
Camping and Lodging
Casper can be found in the south and Kaycee and Buffalo are in the north and have RV campgrounds, restaurants, medical facilities and gas stations. Check with BLM field office about camping spots.
