This hunt area has large mountains that rise in elevation very quickly from the creek bottoms. These mountains are very steep and covered with thick, dark conifer timber that transforms into grass-covered mountain tops at the treeline. Large bucks are known to frequent this unit, with many record book bucks found every year.
Terrain
The elevation in this area can change quickly and creates the steep mountains found here. Many rocky cliff areas are found in higher elevations where large mule deer bucks have bedding grounds. Thick, forested hills with large amounts of downfall can make some trails difficult to hike. Most lower elevations have a creek or stream running through all year long.

The majority of this unit is in the National Forest and many locations have marked Forest Service roads to guide hunters deep into the woods. Maintained hiking trails provides hunters with access to the backwoods where large deer roam the mountain sides.
