This unit, located in the central portion of the state near the city of Casper, can be a very difficult unit to hunt due to the large tracts of private land throughout the entire area. What public land there is, is checker boarded throughout private land. There are three prominent mountains in this unit, Casper Mountain, Muddy Mountain and the Deer Creek Range. Virtually all of Casper Mountain is private land, and there are huge private ranches on and around Muddy Mountain. There is a small section of National Forest in the Deer Creek Range.

With a low average bear harvest each year and with the limited amount of public land, this unit should not be high on your list.
