On The Ground
Unit 95 can be found in Southwestern Wyoming south of Green River and west of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This area is known for its high numbers of antelope and high success rates. Herd growth has slowed down, but hunters still have a good chance to harvest bucks.
This area has been producing large trophies closer to the western border. The eastern portion of the area has had a small drop in antelope numbers, but is recovering and producing good trophies. Trophy quality bucks are located all around the area with higher numbers on the east. A lot of different terrain here, making stalking easier.
Terrain
There are a lot of sage brush flats, deep canyons and rolling hills with ranch lands in the southern and eastern parts of the unit. A few mountain ranges give hunters good vantage points for glassing and finding antelope herds. Some herds can be found along the Flaming Gorge Reservoir and near the Blacks Fork River.
Roughly 1339 square miles
69.4% public land
Elevations from 6,000-8,300 feet
Vegetation
Most of the vegetation here is dominated by sagebrush, bitterbrush and prairie grass. Heading to the higher mountains, hunters can see juniper and pinyon. Ranch lands on the south of this unit have creek bottoms with willows and cottonwood trees.
Access
There is some BLM land with good public access and a few ranch lands toward the south with limited access here. The Ashley National Forest has some access points along the eastern side here. Most roads are not marked. ATV's, UTV's and four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended during late season hunts, as road conditions can change rapidly. Be sure to utilize your GOHUNT maps for land ownership and property boundaries.
Camping and Lodging
Some hunters will camp remotely on BLM land in the unit with no permit required. Established Forest Service campsites next to the Flaming Gorge Reservoir can be found at most boat docks. Motel lodging can be found north of the area in Green River and south in McKinnon, Manila, Utah and Lyman.
