On The Ground

Unit 4 is found in the northeastern corner of the state and features a decent number of antelope but few options for public access. Private land access will be the best and shortest way to find success here but hunters can find scattered success on public lands through hard hunting.

With the lack of public land most of the antelope killed in this area will come from private lands. Success can still be had on public lands but hunters will need to be prepared mentally to work for it.

Terrain

The land in this unit varies from prairie flats to a couple of areas of higher elevation with rolling mountain terrain that goes into lower elevations. Throughout the unit hunters can experience a lot of different terrain with canyons and ravines. Big valleys of sage, grass and open Wyoming landscapes in this unit give antelope a lot of habitat and hunters areas to pursue them.

  • Roughly 233 square miles

  • 14.5% public land

  • Elevations from 4,100-5,380 feet

Grass and sage is the main vegetation found throughout the unit. A few areas of trees can be found throughout the majority of this unit with some pinyon and juniper trees scattered throughout. Some pine, as well as mixed conifer areas that can be found at higher elevations.

A few small areas of public are located in the unit with a few two-track and gravel roads that give access to vehicles. I-90 runs along the northern border of the unit.

Food, fuel and lodging can be found in the local communities of Sundance, Upton and Moorcroft. Some dispersed camping areas can be found on public land. Keyhole State Park is not far from the unit and offers a lot of camping options, as well as cabins that can be rented.
