On The Ground
This area can be found in the central part of the state, northeast of Casper. Made up of high plains desert, this unit has a mix of private land with a some BLM and state land. It is bordered by Interstate 25 and Wyoming Highway 59 on the west, Wyoming Highway 387 on the north, Pine Ridge, Sand Creek and County Road 23 on the east and the North Platte River to the south. Generally, great populations of antelope can be found here and hunters who are willing to put in the work can find some good opportunities.
There is decent access to public land here. Using an outfitter to access private lands can boost chances of success here but public land hunters who work hard can still find good options for success here.
Terrain
There are different types of grassy and desert-like open prairies with big basins, creek bottoms and rolling hills that are good for putting on a stalk. There are also private ranch and farm lands to the south, that can bring in antelope from the surrounding prairies.
Roughly 724 square miles
32.1% public land
Elevations from 4,900-6,300 feet
Vegetation
Open land and high desert prairie with sagebrush and grasslands can be seen here. Rocky bluffs, sagebrush, cedars and small trees are also found here, near the Pine Ridge in the eastern part of the unit.
Access
Public access in this unit is decent, with a few larger tracts of BLM and State lands, however most of the unit is dominated by private land. There are also no Walk-In Access areas here. There are several well-maintained roads and some smaller two tracks in this unit. The gas and oil drilling that goes on here gives good access roads in some places throughout the unit.
Camping and Lodging
Casper is the closest town, and has a lot of lodging options. Grocery stores, gas stations and other amenities can be found here as well. Camping is allowed on all public ground for up to 16 days in one location. Hunters can also camp in remote locations.
