Hunters discussing Area 20 in the Upper Powder River, Wyoming, consistently highlight the region's challenging terrain and the importance of thorough preparation for the hunt. There's a recognized need for understanding the area's geographical features and a strategic approach to navigating its rugged landscapes. Hunters emphasize paying attention to the migration patterns and seasonal behaviors of game, which can significantly influence hunting success. Practical advice includes scouting the area ahead of time and being adaptable to shifting conditions, which fellow hunters agree could improve the odds of a fruitful hunting experience.
This unit is found in north central Wyoming along the southern end of the Bighorn Mountains. Great amounts of public land are found here but most of these areas are mountainous, timbered, and will not hold much for antelope numbers. Private lands will dominate much of the huntable antelope terrain in the unit and what is public will typically see heavy hunting pressure.
Antelope populations in the Sheridan Region are at high levels, so most areas are designed to give hunters a lot of opportunities. The lack of public land opportunities can be a large hurdle for most hunters, though.
