On The Ground
Area 117 is located in the central part of the state near Riverton. The area is made up of high plains desert and includes private lands within the boundary of the Wind River Indian Reservation.
Most antelope can be found on private land or in the Wind River Indian Reservation and public land hunters will want to look into other units to hunt.
Terrain
Area 117 like other surrounding areas, consists of a variety of grassy or desert-like, open prairie with large basins, creek bottoms and rolling hills that provide hunters with opportunities for stalking. Private ranch and farm lands found within the area can attract antelope from the surrounding prairie.

Vegetation
The terrain in this area is open and consists of high desert prairie typically located among sagebrush or grasslands. Irrigates crops will usually hold the most antelope.
Access
Hunters will only be able to hunt private lands within this unit and seeking permission before applying is recommended.
Camping and Lodging
Riverton is the closest town and has many options for lodging, groceries, gas and other amenities. Camping is allowed on all public ground for up to 16 days in one location. Hunters can camp in remote locations throughout the unit.
