Hunters discussing Wyoming's Area 103 emphasize the area's rugged terrain and highlight the importance of understanding the seasonal migration patterns of big game. The unit is known for its challenging access, requiring both physical preparedness and well-planned logistics for successful navigation. Additionally, hunters recommend monitoring draw odds closely, as securing a tag can be competitive. Overall, the insights shared underscore the value of preparation and local knowledge in enhancing hunting success in Area 103.
Area 103, also referred to as Dwyer is located north of Wheatland in the southeast part of the state. Comprised of high plains desert and forest, this unit contains a good amount of parcels of National Forest, BLM and State lands. Public lands can be found, but are scattered throughout the unit and hunters will liely need to stay mobile.
This area has fair public access and public land hunters who hunt hard can find success here. Typically, the best odds for success, and the best bucks, will be found on private lands.
