Camano Island lies between Saratoga Passage and Port Susan and connects to the mainland via road 532 at Stanwood. There is hunting opportunity within this small GMU, however, the style of hunt is certainly not for everyone.
Gaining access to private land can be a challenge in this unit.
This small island just above sea level holds a healthy population of deer and is thickly brushed with lots of very small single-family residential properties. A GPS will help you know your hunting boundaries and will be useful for game retrieval as well.
This unit has thick, lush cover with small tracts of cleared land, few hobby farms, and some pristine habitats that are critical to supporting wildlife populations. Tidal flats and marshland are common as elevations rise just a few hundred feet above sea level. There are a significant amount of introduced non-native decorative trees, shrubs and flowers, some of which are growing feral.
Access is all on private land and is best secured early. Road 532 at Stanwood offers access to the GMU.
There isn't much as far as camping goes unless a landowner will grant permission to do so. Everett and its suburbs are relatively close to the unit and will offer any amenities that you might need.
