Washington offers hunting opportunities for two species of elk - Rocky Mountain Elk and Roosevelt Elk. Rocky mountain elk are hunted in the eastern two-thirds of the state, where over-the-counter options are available for every weapon while the best opportunities are reserved for limited entry special permits. The general hunts are not generally known for producing a high percentage of mature bulls, but it does offer a great opportunity for those wanting to get out and hunt elk.
** Units listed below may not have a current hunt for this species. Units in this table are included if a significant part of the unit is found within the county.
