Most of this unit is private farm and rangeland near the Idaho border and contains parts of several towns. This is a new extended archery deer hunting area that lets bowhunters hunt rutting bucks.

Mule deer don't usually get to trophy size in this area since there is a lot of hunting pressure during gun seasons, but a mature buck can occasionally show up during the rut. There is bowhunting in September, October, and November.

This area has some farmland, river bottoms, sagebrush and a small mountain range that is north and west of the Bear River. Newton, Little Mountain and Newton Reservoir are in the southern end, and Bergeson and Big Hills can be found west of Cornish and south of Idaho.

The main cover in this area is made up of a mixture of native and exotic grasses and forbs, sagebrush and farm crops like alfalfa and grains. Draws and marshy areas usually have bulrushes, cottonwoods, Russian olives, cattails and willows. The hills are mostly covered with sagebrush and oakbrush with junipers and aspen in some places.

The bigger hills and most of the lowlands here are private. Some farmers and ranchers can give hunting permission to bowhunters here. A few hundred acres of state land can be found in west of Bergeson and Big Hills and east of Cornish. Some marshland is not posted and is open to public hunting.

Some hunters camp near the shores of Newton Reservoir. Several RV parks and motels can be found in Logan.
