On The Ground

East of Price, and north of Green River, hunters have enjoyed high success rates in the Range Creek unit, with very few days in the field. Most hunters will harvest an antelope with a horn length of 14”.

This unit has a lot of public land with the antelope isolated to a few areas around Wellington and Sunnyside. Antelope will be found in the flats on the eastern part of the unit. Groups of 5-15 antelope will be found throughout the area. This can be an easy physical hunt with good access to high numbers of antelope in the area.

Terrain

The majority of the antelope terrain will be low elevation flats with sagebrush. This part of Utah has many mesas and plateaus with some small canyons and washes that break up the landscape. There are some pinyon/juniper patches that will checker the flats and small hills. There are also some isolated drinkers and stock ponds that the antelope will use for water sources. Hunters will be able to glass and cover large tracts of country in this unit. There is good road access to this area and hunters can travel the unit in either ATVs or vehicles. There is also good antelope habitat east of Interstate 6 in the low elevation flats and plateaus.

  • Roughly 1,547 square miles

  • 72% public land

  • Elevations from 4,100-8,100 feet

High elevations contain mostly pinyon/juniper, sagebrush and some bitterbrush with no alpine tundra. Middle elevations have pinyon/juniper, manzanita, grass meadows and sagebrush. The lower elevations have pinyon/juniper, sagebrush, oak brush, grasses and other browse.

Great access to the lower elevations parts of this unit where the antelope will be found. Many good dirt roads and a high number of two-track ATV trails can be used to navigate the unit. Most hunters will access the unit from Interstate 6 on the west end of the unit. Other access roads are Coal Creek Road, Clark Valley Road, and SR-123.

  • Great vehicle and ATV access

  • A lot of country to hunt

  • Glass from high elevations areas

Price, Utah and Green River, Utah have lodging, gas, groceries and other supplies. There are no campgrounds in this unit but camping is permitted on most public land.
