This is a very small unit on the east side of the Missouri River in the central part of the state just north of Chamberlain. While small, this area, the Brule Bottom Game Production Area, is almost entirely public land.

Hunters will have nearly free range in this unit but the small size can see increased hunting pressure. Hunting pinch points and funnels will be important.

This entire unit is comprised of the riparian zone of the Missouri river with a heavy mix of swamp and heavy marsh. The northern end of the unit does see some variation in terrain and hunters looking to employ spot and stalk tactics can find some opportunities in that area.

The river bottoms and various creek beds have scattered timber including Cottonwood, American Elm, Green Ash, and Bur Oak lining the edges of much of the water system. As you move through the riparian zone you will find a healthy mix of marsh vegetation including cattails, different prairie grass, and wildflowers.

Highway 50 heads north out of the town of Chamberlain and follows the river. Several gravel roads exist throughout the area and provide pretty straight forward access to most locations.

The town of Chamberlain is approximately 5 miles south of the unit. There is no primitive camping on the unit, but you can find lodging, fuel, and groceries easily here.
