Moose in North Dakota are found in limited numbers, primarily in the upper 1/3 of the state. Moose are commonly found in the Turlte Mountains but also can be found along forestedriver areas all along the Canadian border. Moose tags are only available to residents and are distributed through a random lottery draw.

The subspecies of moose found in the state are considered Canadian moose and are generally on the smaller side in terms of scoring when compared to the species as a whole. Intotal, there have been two moose entered in the Boone and Crockett record books for North Dakota.

Tags are available that are valid for any moose or specifically for antlerless moose. Archery seasons are available for most of the licenses and can be hunted by anyone currentlyholding an any legal weapon license for moose.
