On The Ground
The Bull Frog Hills and Bare Mountain hold desert bighorn sheep and mule deer, but only residents may hunt sheep here. Most vegetation is Mojave Desert brush. Elevations range from 3,300 feet to 6,000 feet. Road access is good, but you must hike to reach some areas.
Great unit for hunting trophy class desert bighorn sheep. The unit has few deer and is not known for producing trophy size bucks.
Terrain
Elevation changes are steep, particularly on Bare Mountain. The rest of the unit is made up of rolling hills, washes and desert flats dominated by creosote. Elevations range from 3,300 feet on the valley floors to about 6,000 feet at Bare Mountain Peak. Natural water sources are few and scattered, and there are a number of guzzlers.

Vegetation
Much of the unit is dominated by Mojave Desert scrub and brush.
Access
Largely public land with good vehicle access to most places with some areas reached by foot. Sterling Gold Mine, on the eastern side of Bare Mountain prohibits trespassing and prevents access through the mine site, but hunters can hike around the site to reach this area. The unit borders Nellis Air Force Base where trespassing is prohibited. Hunters should avoid venturing close to the boundary.
Camping and Lodging
Several motels are in Beatty as well as an overnight RV and trailer park. Supplies and fuel are sold in Beatty. Hunters may camp on BLM land.
