This unit includes the Eastern Slope of the Sierra Nevada Sweetwater Mountains, Wellington Hills, and portions of Antelope Valley along the Walker River. Terrain is very typical of the Sierra Nevada's.

This unit is primarily mule deer country with no hunting opportunities for antelope. Hunters can have a good experience hunting mule deer in this unit with the help from mother nature. This unit lies in a migration route for deer coming of the Sierra's as winter sets in.

The terrain is very diverse from low lying agriculture fields to steep mountains with alpine meadows and basins. Low lying agriculture valleys lead into moderate hills with brush and pinions that climb into steep rugged mountains with diverse vegetation and larger rock outcroppings.

There are irrigated crop fields and meadows in the low lying valley floors along with typical river and stream corridor vegetation including willows, cottonwood trees and brush. Leading from the valley into the moderate hills there is tall sagebrush with thick pinion and juniper along with mahoganies as well as aspens along water sources. In upper elevations the vegetation changes to short brush and open rock hill sides with some upper alpine meadows and larger pines.

The valley floors and smaller hills leading to the higher slope contain some scattered private ground. However there is good access and roads throughout to take you into the unit. A private land use map would be beneficial in this unit to navigate around crop fields and ranches to take you to the public ground. Private property does have some impact on access to public land, however there are plenty of roads and access points that lead into hunting areas.

There are modern services located in Wellington, NV and Topaz, CA as well as some great areas that will allow more primitive camping.
