On The Ground
The boundaries for this unit encompass the Wood Hills. Most of the land is covered by sagebrush with dense pinyon and juniper trees. This unit is home to mule deer, elk and pronghorn antelope.
Small resident mule deer, antelope and elk populations here and is mainly known for producing decent bulls on rare occasions, but does produce mature mule deer bucks on rare occasions as well.
Terrain
Steep terrain in the Little Cedar Mountain region of the Wood Hills, and the remainder of the unit exhibits hills, gentle slopes and benches. Little Cedar Mountain in the eastern central part of the unit is the highest point of elevation at approximately 8,300 feet. The lowest elevations reside in the far southern part of the unit in Independence Valley, at 5,600 feet above sea level. Water sources are extremely limited and scattered.

Vegetation
Sagebrush takes up much of the unit with dense stands of pinyon and juniper trees throughout much of the Wood Hills. Low-lying elevations of the unit are inhabited by winter fat and saltbrush.
Access
The majority of the unit is public land and public vehicle access is good throughout most of the unit. The largest public exclusion in the unit on in the northwestern corner of the unit in and around Wells, Nevada. That being said, this area is not favorable for hunting and alternative routes are viable for hunters to get around these private parcels. US Highway Interstate 80 serves as the best route to access the northern parts of the unit. The Union Pacific Railroad Maintenance Road in conjunction with unnamed road that bounders the units to the south each provide the best access to the southern parts of the unit. This same uname road bounders the unit to the east and provides the best access to the eastern parts of the unit. US Highway 93 provides the best access to the western parts of the unit. Various primitive roads that stem from these primary routes provide better direct access to areas of the unit.
Camping and Lodging
Hunters may get motel rooms and general supplies in Wells, to the northwest, or Wendover, to the east, both of which are located on US Highway Interstate 80. Hunters can camp anywhere on public land.
