The Nebraska River Antlerless Private Land Only Hunts are specialized hunting opportunities offered by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission to manage deer populations in certain river regions of the state. These hunts are restricted to private lands along designated river corridors and focus specifically on antlerless deer. The aim is to reduce herd numbers in these areas to help balance the ecosystem, mitigate crop damage, and decrease deer-vehicle collisions. The private land designation helps ensure that hunting occurs in areas where landowners have agreed to participate, fostering cooperation between the state and private landholders in wildlife management efforts.
With the nature of this tag hunters need to be well aware of where they are hunting. In general, hunters will need to secure private access to find success on this hunt, but public land hunters can find opportunities on lands in the Open Fields and Waters program if they meet the criteria mentioned above.
Because the vast majority of hunting in this area is done on private lands hunters will find very few options for public lodging. Some established campgrounds can be found in areas close to hunting locations but most hunters will likely opt for modern lodging options such as motels, hotels, or rental properties. Sporting goods can be found throughout the state, but depending on the location of your hunt, it may be necessary to secure all gear needs prior to leaving for the hunt.
