This unit is found on the western edge of the state along the Wyoming state line. This area is composed of classic antelope hunting terrain from rolling prairie slopes to crop lands. Public land is decent here and hunters have some additional access options to consider as well. Good populations of antelope are found here and anyone holding a tag could be in for a great hunt.

Decent public access is found here along with a smaller collection of lands in the Open Fields And Waters Program. Public land hunters can find success here through hardwork.

Most of this area is composed of classic prairie country will rolling grass hills, coulees, and tons of glassing opportunities. Some big portions of the unit are developed crop lands. These are primarily found in the southern and eastern portions of the unit. Most of the western half is largely untouched. Many creek beds and drainages wind themselves through the landscape create breaks in the terrain that are excellent for spot and stalk adventures.

Typical prairie grasses and shrubs dominate most of the undeveloped areas. Creek bottoms with see a higher distribution of willows and cottonwoods. Stands of hardwoods, large brush, and more will often be present in areas around agricultural crops.

Public land sections are distributed throughout the unit. With the exception of a few locations most of these chunks are single sections so hunting grounds are limited and hunting tends to be more fast and furious. Some public chunks that butt against other lands enrolled in various access programs. There are some large chunks of ground enrolled in the Open Fields And Waters Program that can make for excellent access options as well. Public lands are checker-boarded and evenly spread throughout the unit with the exception of the agricultural areas in the east central portion of the unit which are almost entirely private. There are a few large sections of Forest Service lands in the extreme northeast corner. There is a smaller collection of Open Fields and Water lands available with some of the biggest chunks being found just west of Hemingford and in the northwest corner. This unit has produced record book entries from Box Butte, Morrill, and Sioux counties.

Most of the modern lodging and amenity options will be found either along the southern edge of the unit on Highway 26, or in the east central portion of the unit near the town of Alliance. Small communities are scattered throughout the remainder of the unit, but services will be limited.
