On The Ground
This district is located just north of the Wyoming border and adjacent to the Crow Indian Reservation in the Pryor Mountains. This district is made up of BLM, Forest Service and the Bighorn National Recreation Area, all open to public hunting.
This district was originally stocked in 1972 and the population has increased to a current number of around 150 sheep.
Terrain
This district starts along the Bighorn Lake on the east, and it is bordered by vertical limestone cliffs hundreds of feet in elevation. The Pryor Mountains are a mix of deep canyons surrounded by steep limestone cliffs. There are open ridges and plateaus above the cliffs. The entire mountain range has numerous open parks throughout.

Vegetation
The base of the mountains go from open grasslands to slopes covered in junipers and cedars. The upper slopes have conifer trees scattered throughout the area and the deep canyons are mostly forested. There are parks and meadows scattered throughout the unit.
Access
There are several access points into the district and the sheep are found on public land. Highway 310 has several roads branching off into the district. Pryor Creek Road south of Billings will also access the district. There is a good access road in Sage Creek that takes you to the ice caves in the heart of the Pryor Mountains.
ATVs can be very handy throughout the district
Hiking can be strenuous, it is all very steep terrain with numerous steep canyons
Camping and Lodging
There are numerous places to camp throughout this district on public land. It is also possible to stay at a motel in Bridger or Lovell and day hunt.
