Quick Tips
The moose are widely scattered from creek bottoms to upper forest elevations, so check out all possibilities
Bring good optics even though much of the unit is forested and check with some locals on areas to check out
There is the potential to harvest a respectable bull and with only 4 tags in an extremely large unit there will not be much competition
There is a good elk population in the Little Belts and available on a general tag
This unit is located in central Montana and is just east and north of White Sulphur Springs and runs all along the Musselshell River to Roundup. Great Falls is on the very north and west edge and the unit extends east along Highway 87 to Grass Range. It encompasses the eastern portion of the Little Belt Mountain Range and the entire Snowy Mountain Range. This an extremely large unit. The moose are widely scattered. There are only four either sex tags for this unit.
Moose numbers are low and widely scattered but the population is stable. There is potential in this unit with bulls taken in the past to 40”. Past success averages around 20 days per harvest. Most of the moose habitat is on national forest land within the two mountain ranges. This is the unit that pays to have numerous local contacts as it can be tough to locate moose.
