On The Ground
This area can be found in the Western part of the state, sitting northwest of Missoula near the Idaho border. Starting in St. Regis, head west along the Clark Fork River until it meets with the Idaho Border.
This area is smaller than the hunting districts around it, but still has some good public land hunting. Elk can be found all throughout the district. Whitetails can be found in good numbers. Mule deer populations are on a small decline, with bigger bucks harder to find.
Terrain
This unit has a lot of rough terrain, with the northern part having large roadless sections of massive mountains covered in finger ridges. Farther south, dropping into the Clark Fork River drainage, the country becomes more mild with more clear cuts and selective timber harvests, making for good habitat.
