On The Ground
This hunt district is located in south central Montana. It is north and east of Roundup and on the south side of the Snowy Mountains. Antelope are typically found on private land and access can be obtained, but will require spending some time to acquire.
Antelope populations are drastically down from a disease outbreak in 2012. It will take some time for this district to recover. There is a respectable buck to doe ratio. The general tag is for either sex antelope.
Terrain
The base of te Snowy Mountains have a few foothills, but the area is mostly made up of flat grassland benches extending out from the mountain to the south. Halfway to the Musselshell River, the area changes to broken countryside with coulees and sandstone ridges that are covered with cedars, junipers and pines.

Vegetation
The northern half of the district is grassland, with the southern half made up of patches of pine, cedar and juniper that are scattered and associatted with the breaks. The broken terrain is also where sagebrush can be found on the rangeland. Most of the creeks have agriculture fields adjacent to them. Dry land farming can be found throughout the unit.
Access
Good gravel county roads that run throughout the area provide access throughout the unit.Do not travel of gravel roads if it starts to rain, the area can get very muddy. The majority of the antelope are found on private land and access to the private land is difficult, but with some time invested permission can be obtained on numerous places. There are state sections, some BLM and a few ranches in the Block Management program in this unit.
Camping and Lodging
Roundup has several motels, restaurants and gas stations. Camping is allowed on most BLM land and some ranches allow tents or campers. Ryegate and Lavina have gas and food but no motels.
