The Dworshak Zone is located in north-central Idaho and is entirely made up of unit 10A. This area is very dense in vegetation and glassing opportunities can be hard to come by. Decent densities of elk can be found here but herds tend to be very small and locating elk day to day can be difficult. All hunting is done OTC are hunters have a few options when it comes to selecting their tag. Public access is good here and many logging roads exist giving hunters options when it comes to accessing their preferred hunting areas.
Elevations are generally lower in the northern half of the state but vegetation can get very extreme and difficult to traverse. Existing logging and mining operations have opened the ground cover in some areas and provide the only real glassing opportunities within the unit. The terrain can get steep at times and hunters may find it difficult when traveling cross country. Mountains, buttes, ridges, long slopes, and creeks run in every direction.
This area has great public access thanks to the many logging roads throughout the unit. Hunters will find very little trouble in actually finding and accessing hunting areas but escaping pressure can be somewhat more difficult at times.
