Urban and suburban communities of Colorado Springs lead to a rural prairie east of Falcon mainly consisting of private land and home to herds of antelope, mule deer, whitetails and a number of small herds of elk.

Flat prairie to gently rolling hills marked with some steep rocky bluffs yielding to small canyons, deep draws and dry creek beds.

Landscape consists of short-grass prairie, sagebrush, oakbrush and a large expanse of ponderosa pine.

Ramah State Wildlife Area, 400 acres in the northeast corner, is home to whitetail and mule deer. U.S. Highway 24 heads from mountains in the west to the prairie in the northeast. Interstate 25 runs along the western boundary and beside Monument Creek, connecting to city and county roads that all head east away from Rampart Range. Colorado Route 217 heads north of U.S. 24 near Peyton, connecting to many county roads.
