On The Ground
This mainly private land is predominantly agricultural allowing mule deer, whitetails and antelope thousands of acres to feed and roam without a lot of human encounters. Hunters should visit the area and contact landowners before the hunt.
Terrain
Rolling prairie eroded by dry gulches, draws, small canyons and long intermittent creeks are interrupted by vast tilled lands and lands set aside in Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Along the northern border are areas of sand hills.

Vegetation
Prairie short and tall grasses, sagebrush, Russian thistle, yucca and Russian olive.
Access
County Road 63 travelling between Akron and Anton intersects with a good county and secondary road system. Major routes include Colorado 71 along the western edge, U.S. Highway 36 between Last Chance and Arickaree creates the southern boundary, County Road 61 determines the eastern edge and connects with U.S. 34 at Otis.
Wet weather makes some secondary roads rutted and muddy

Camping and Lodging
Small communities Akron, Otis, Brush and Anton provide gas and food while Fort Morgan east of Brush offers motels, restaurants, gas, diesel and medical facilities.
