Rocky Mountain bighorns are found in the high elevations across most of Colorado. Nonresidents are only allowed to apply in certain units. The average bighorn harvested in Colorado is not as large as Montana, but several Boone and Crockett qualifying rams have been harvested over the years. Archery-only seasons are available in Colorado. Tags are issued on a weighted point system after three preference points are accumulated.

You can apply for either Rocky Mountain or desert bighorn sheep, not both
Ten percent of bighorn tags will go to nonresident applicants
Nonresident sheep license includes an annual fishing license
No landowner vouchers available for Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep
All sheep must be inspected by a CPW officer within five working days of harvest
Applicant can accumulate a maximum of three preference points for sheep
Once applicant has 3 preference points, then they are awarded a weighted point for each year they are unsuccessful in the draw
