Arizona is home to three individual species of turkey - Merriams, Rio Grande, and the highly sought-after Goulds. Tags are available for both drawing and as over-the-counter archery options with both Spring and Fall seasons available. Turkeys can be found in scattered populations throughout the state but are most commonly found in the central and eastern portions. Hunting opportunities for Merriams and Rio Grande turkeys are fairly available, or even available as OTC, but drawings for Goulds can take many years and will often require upwards of 20 points or more.
Two drawing periods are available for turkey each year: Spring and Fall
Both shotgun and archery-only hunts are offered
Spring moisture can effect poult crop from year to year and effect populations
Drawing and OTC archery tags available
Three specie available: Merriams, Rio Grande, and Goulds
The same turkey point applies to all three species
High public-land distribution for most units
